At some point last year, after I had been offered an opportunity to buy some Vitavox S2 drivers from someone in Paris, and some S3s from Germany, I decided to approach Mike Harvey of Octave Audio, AKA Vitavox Hifi, to get some information about how I...

Of cause it shall be mentioned in the context of thin there that there is always the ALE Acoustic solution. The Japanese ALE Acoustic make two midbass drivers: P1260 and P160.

I am reading through those interesting threads.
I have just won a pair of S2 on ebay so I am interested in horns for them. I have fired an email to Vitavox Peter and I will get his diaphragms. Since my drivers are in UK, maybe he ...

Christopher Witmer with his upcoming US show initiated a new wave of Feastrex propaganda. I have mention Christopher in context of his Maxonic drivers before:

Romy, I was asking questions here, and @ RMAF because I'm trying to gather enough information to build compression drivers. At my day job I am a prototype machinist at Los Alamos National Lab. I don't plan on going into production, j...

Bravo for the progress,Romy quotes in blue :"...My concern is that with introduction of that super-lucrative and “palatable cleanness” the new MF channels lost some bubbleness on sound..."Upon reading this, I of course immediately want...

Yes, it’s the drivers that inspired me to write up this thread. The response looks like it rises slightly atop but it is almost OK for this type of the drivers. Running the driver off the axis it is possible to roll off the HF rise. It is pretty much...

Romy,I took your advice and now have a single 2440 driver. At least i THINK its a 2440. On opening it i find that it has a phenolic diaphragm! Have I been sold something else? I was not aware that there were ever any phenolics for the 2440 family. Wa...

From the perspective of pumping of atmospheric pressure the ALE bass drivers might be more capable transducers. It or might not be so as well. To get 40Hz at 110dB in 5” it would take some excursion. I am sorry but you can’t bend the law o...

Twogoodears, MINGSU or whoever else why know, I have a question to ask As I understand GOTO use mostly titanium diaphragms but they calm them by plastic surround. This FRP technology the used nowadays in all GOTO form from Fiberglass Reinforced Plas...

Without wishing to open a can of worms....Mine are the 1443 - same as the 1428B save for the field coil voltage. I've finally got round to ins talling some of Cogent's replacement diaphragms to restore them properly. I can't say enough good thing...
the lead outs look rather fragile.
Actually I recognize it as a positive feature.
the material looks like it may not even be aluminium - it kinda looks like titanium ?!
If it is so t...

AlloOnly the cheapo Shure see-saw... perhaps I can improvise a balance to check the weight.I thought about the compliance business, as the HK diaphragms look like the surround embossing is narrower, which would make them less compliant (if they are a...

Yes, Keith, it is how they usually do with front-exited drivers where the back chamber not vented. Some would put a texture on the plate of magnet, some put felt dampers. It look like then have some kind of indentation in there I have no idea wh...

For all S2 fans... please be aware that seller "milesvintage2007" was claiming to have found a load of diaphragms in an old cinema (yeah, lots of those running Vitavox in Hong Kong, I'm sure...*)Even forged the labels on the tins... He has since remo...

I was exploring the park of lower MF drivers and I think I have found one that I will pursue. However, while I will be waiting for my drivers to arrive I ask myself a question what would happen if put a few gaskets under my S2/S2 diaphragms? If I mov...
1) The foams from back chamber pushed itself through the window of basket and touched the driver cone. Sonically it is very likely but knowing HOW I did the thing I think (hope) it did not happen. Also, both horns hav...

Scott from the miserable Afghanistan was strategizing about his new 5-wsy installation and sketched to us Faital drivers. I knew nothing about the company, looked them up and find that the do some compression drivers with Ketone diaphragms.

symbiotic diaphragms were never used in the 19's. this may be part of the "bad sound" that this guy was experiencing.they used the 802-8g driver with ultra light epoxy and aluminum diaphragm that allowed hf response up to 22,000 cycles when pairedwi...

HelloI've always wanted to try an ESL as a horn driver:So I employed a hi power Koss 3-layer bass module cut from Koss "model 2" spkr.Polarizing voltage was low on Koss design so it was upped to 3kv w/ custom PS.Horn is old closet that had a trapdoor...

Good start Dan!The JBL phenolic 2" driver is 2482.I would lower the crossover point as far as you dare, 300Hz or so.Now the 2226 will do what they are pretty good at.Later you will likely want to filter the 2445 around 2k.A 600Hz horn with a 1" drive...

I spoke to the owner of the company. The drivers are copies of Western Electric 555 (but the owner insists that they use genuine NOS WE diaphragms membranes) but they can be custom made to fit in with one's requirements. I didn't know such a thing wa...

Just a quick note.I tired a JBL 3" compression driver 2490h model with original Titanium diaphragms on a 120 hz Tacrix horn. I got a response down to 200 hz. How did it sound? It sounded good clear and transparent but it lacked a little tone imho...

I tend to like drivers with plastic suspension. Radian makes retrofit diaphragms for JBL with plastic suspension, maybe they will help you achieve the tone you are looking for.
Extensions are easy to machine out of aluminum, even wood and they can ...

Jorge, from your posts, I gather that you actually listen to your results. So you realize there is no way to predict what Haralanov's driver would sound like in (your) horn... except...As Romy has said, "articulate", tone-rich direct, paper drivers...
